Ashley Graham
Advocate ~ Model ~ Fashion Designer
Ashley Graham is someone I have admired for impowering her curves to make the point that we are different sizes and different shapes but we are women as a whole and that needs to be embraced.  She has curves and does not apologize for them and I LOVE this about her.

Barack Obama's First Interview Since Leaving Office
&
 The Return of David Letterman

Please click pic to view NPR article.

Since my schedule is neither here nor there, meaning I'm off work and trying to find my health and mind, I took a not by my choice evening nap.  Waking to a phone filled with text messages from our family group text, about Baby Liam of course, to guessing what time it was by the brightness of the lighting coming from the interior courtyard, I grabbed my all-in-one remote.  More like best friend at the oddest moments.  Needless to say, I was instantly reminded I sent a text to my daughter condemning her for my not being able to use her Hulu account, so no Younger episodes for me tonight.  Netflix it is I thought and proceeded to click on my user profile.

Act Your Age Not Your Shoe Size 01.13.18

Sunday, January 14, 2018

I love fashion, I love to dress up or dress down.  I love to coordinate my look from head to toe to keeping it simple,  I will spend money on a good classic piece and yes, I bargain hunt.  Target and Santee Alley are your friends.

But as much as I love fashion, I hate it when women reach a "certain age" and dress like they've been subtracting a year from their age each birthday. And nothing takes away from a young lady's look, more so than when every outfit she wears, leaves nothing to anyone's imagination.   There is just a way to carry yourself that puts you on the map with out saying, stop shopping in the junior's department or get out of your daughter's closet and do us all a favor and put on some damn clothes.

Viola Davis Glamour Magazine Interview

Viola Davis' Personal Story Will Make You Love Her Even More

I've never gone hungry, I've never had rats in my home...I never knew what it was like to grow up in these conditions in anyone's home.  We lived on the southeast side of town, between two projects but our projects compared to actual inner city projects, looked like townhouses, that's literally what I've been told by people who lived in impoverished areas of some cities.
When I read Viola Davis' account of her childhood, in her interview with  for Glamour magazine, and what she went thru, it reminded me of just how much I did have growing up and just how much harder it could have been.  No, I'm not saying I didn't appreciate my mother working two jobs and having food on the table, lights on, running water, heat in the winter, ac in the summer and that this interview, her honesty about her childhood, opened my eyes.  I know all to well, how hard it could have been, but this interview, the details painted so vividly you can visualize it as clear as if you were there with her, gave me another level of appreciation.

I think this article even though it's from a few years ago, the message timeless and Oh So Worth A Read, for the new level of appreciation, for reflection and a renewed appreciation for what you do have and for where you are today.  To remind us of just how hard it could have been and how hard it can get and these are reasons to "Start Each Day with a Grateful Heart".

Reflect and Enjoy!

"I'm Wearing My Afro To Work Today. Deal With It."

Part of my blog features a section called Do You Every Day All Day!  I've found that at 53, most things from clothing to hairstyles and how I should look are tied to how old I am, not who I am.

So while scrolling thru Cosmopolitan's Instagram, I saw this amazing head of hair and when I clicked on the actual pic, I knew I'd found the perfect most obvious article to share on my blog.  "I'm Wearing My Afro To Work Today. Deal With It.", is an article that truly speaks volumes about what I mean when I say Do You Every Day All Day.  Can you believe this gorgeous head of hair, yes her own hair, was actually discouraged and denied her a job to do HAIR????? You'd never know by the smile on her face that she was ever denied her chance to learn, to gain skills and grow her God given talent because of her hair.

Well, needless to say, behind that smile is a woman of position, self worth and a woman         .
For the full story, click her pic and remember Do You Every Day All Day!
