When John Legend graced the world with his first solo cd, I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak, I just couldn't explain what it meant to hear pure soul cd. I grew up where the radio station didn't play soul music unless it by chance landed on Dick Clark's American Bandstand and even then the odds were slim. Hell, you had to leave town to see an all black movie let alone a movie with a black lead. After Super Fly and the droves of "coloreds" that came and formed lines around the block to see it, NEVER AGAIN! Hell, it's 2018 and the locals still wonder what movies will show and which ones are too "black" and they'll have to plan a trip to go see.
With that being said, you have a depth and understanding of what it is to hear an actual soul cd, cause your albums and 8-tracks were all you had cause it wasn't on your radio and you weren't going to hear it on a soundtrack. So I have a fondness for John Legend and A Good Night does not disappoint. Check out John Legend's collaboration with BloodPop, cause it's Oh So Worth A Listen, A Good Night.
